Robert Griffin commanded a battleship division at the Kiska landings in August 1943
and commanded the Emirau landings
in March 1944. The Emirau operation included a a battleship bombardment
of Kavieng on 15 March 1944.
Griffin also participated in the Tarawa
landing.
