Kweiyang (Guiyang; 106.703E
26.583N) was the railhead
for the road to Chungking.
The city was threatened by the
Japanese Ko-go operation in April
1944, and the Allies
feared its loss would expose Chungking
and Kunming. However, the Japanese
outran their logistics and
withdrew without seizing the city, and the Allied commanders
concluded that it had never been a Japanese objective.
