Iwakuni (132.229E
34.163N) is a city and port in southern Honshu, located on the Inland Sea. It was the location of a naval
air station that was part of the training system for Japanese naval
aviators. Iwakuni Air Group with 96 K5Y "Willow" trainer aircraft was based here. The
Marifu railway yards were also located in the city.
The Marifu railway yards were bombed by three groups of
the 313
Bombardment Wing on 14 August 1945.
