Sambhar (75.20E 26.92N) was a town and rail junction in northwest India, located about 180 miles (290 km) southwest of New Delhi and 35 miles (56 km) west of Jaipur.
The town sits on the shores of Sambhar Lake, a brine lake that has been exploited for its salt for a thousand years.
