The Presidents were completed from 1941 to the end of the war. They were Maritime Commission standard C3-P&C passenger and cargo ships converted to troop transports, which made for reasonable accomodations for the troops. They were capable of carrying up to 32 LCVPs and 2 LCM(3) to get the troops ashore. (These landing craft would not have been available early in the war.)
