Mito (140.467E
36.367N) is the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture northeast of Tokyo. It is an important
communications center and the location of an Army
air base.
On 1 August 1945 the city was bombed by 314
Bombardment Wing, which destroyed 65 percent of the city.
